Located in the North East Aegean Sea, Chios is a mountainous island with only a few valleys formed in its south and east regions. The island is known for its picturesque landscapes and Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and sparse rainfalls in the summer.

There are numerous Byzantine monasteries which are worth your visit, since they hide cultural and religious treasures. At the same time, neoclassical mansions and exceptional stone walls are the silent witnesses of another era. Plains with wild tulips, lemon and mastic trees, colorful flowers and unique flora compose a dreamy island scenery you will fall in love with.


Chios is connected by boat to the port of Piraeus, Alexandroupolis and Kavala. It is also connected by air to Athens.


Just 6 km from the town of Chios, the traditional settlement of Kampos was founded by the Genoese invaders in the 14th century and is currently under the protection of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Genoa and Chios meet stylishly in the earth-coloured mansions of the local aristocrats of the past.

Nea Moni

Just a few minutes away from the town of the island, discover its most important religious site and one of the most important Byzantine monuments  in the whole country.  Nea Moni (New Monastery) was built in the 11th century and is considered an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Easter in the village Vrondados

Vrondados is a famous Greek village, because of a peculiar yet impressive tradition called “rouketopolemos” (rocket war), which takes place during Easter every year.

Mavra Volia

Black pebbles and crystal-clear waters compose the scenery of the most unique and one of the most famous beaches in Chios. Mavra Volia, also known as the Volcano Beach, is a black beach due to the lava that travelled there after the explosion of Santorini’s volcano, thousands of years ago.


Karfas beach is located 6 km from Chios town and cherishes wonderful golden sand and warm waters. It is ideal for families and water sports.

Glari beach

Located 9 km of Chios town, Glari beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. Visit this organized beach to enjoy swimming in the turquoise waters.
