Discover your travel guide to Zante and explore all the secrets of the island.

Your Zante travel guide

Zante is a verdant island embraced by fertile valleys. The diversity of its landscape has resulted in different types of beaches. On the Southeastern part you will find sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue and on the western part you will find rugged cliffs and a mesmerizing underwater world.

The Venetians, who ruled Zakynthos from 1484 to 1797, called the island “Fiore di Levante” (flower of the East) as there are over 7,000 species of flowers on the island.

Their architectural influence has left their mark despite the damage sustained due to seismic activity in the area. Stroll around the Solomos Square, which is dedicated to the Greek poet Dionysios Solomos that wrote the Greek National Anthem, to admire the traditional architecture. Also visit the Post- Byzantine Museum of Zakynthos and the Public Library.

The island is famous for its vibrant nightlife, which makes it a frequent destination of the youth.

Zante is connected by boat to Killini. It is also connected by air to Athens and Thessaloniki and by bus to Athens.

National Marine Park

The National Marine Park of the island aims to protect rare species of marine life that live in the wider area (in Zante, as well as in the rest of the Ionian Sea). The protected species are mainly the sea turtles “Caretta Caretta” and the Mediterranean   Monk Seals “Monachus Monachus”.

The Shipwreck

An exotic, secluded beach on the northwest of the island is one of the most photographed places in  Greece. An old, rusty boat is laying half buried in the white sand since 1982… This beach is only accessible by boat. Steep cliffs, white sand and the most amazing turquoise blue waters compose the view you will admire, as soon as the boat enters the gorgeous cove. Words are not enough to describe this, so have your camera ready…Boats depart from Skinari, Zakynthos town and Ag. Nikolaos.

Local gastronomy

Olive oil, raisins and honey are the basic products of the island. Taste fytoura, mandolato and pasteli, which are famous, locally produced, sweet snacks. These are the most distinctive local tastes you should take with you!

Amazing crystalline sea and wonderful sand compose one of the most beautiful beaches in Zante. Gerakas is family-friendly, organized and located 18 km from Zante town.

A very popular organized beach in Zante close to town. You should definitely visit it if you are a watersports lover!

Banana or Vasilikos beach in Zante is considered one of the most wonderful beaches on the island ideal for families and endless water fun!
